A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet rescued four early chances in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
